"Chesapeake Journey" was installed as the central hardscape of an outdoor balcony occupying 1,618 square feet as part of a new downtown development near Washington, D.C. Celebrating the region through its depiction of the Chesapeake Bay, the mural includes portraits of notable historic figures, cities, and nearly 100 other hidden icons that viewers can gradually discover. Flanking either side of the balcony are benches engraved with the names of all the icons. They read, "Can you find..." to encourage visitors to search the mural for these icons.
